Bad behavior in the park

I suspect this was specifically on the southwest corner of Precita Park, where we've all seen lots of questionable activity take place.

Police Blotter: 12/18/06 1:20 pm Bessie and Folsom

Officers Michael Walsh, William McCarthy and Josh Kumli went to Bessie and Folsom on a report of four suspects passing around a handgun. After an investigation they determined that one of the suspects was an escapee of a drug program in San Mateo County and had a no bail warrant for his arrest. Four suspects were arrested---three for possession of an airgun and graffiti offenses as well as for possession of marijuana. The suspects reside on the 500 block of Ellsworth, 700 block of Shotwell, 2800 block of Cesar Chavez and the 300 block of Edinburgh. Case #061340207

Drive By Shooting on Shotwell @ Chavez

Drive By Shooting on Shotwell near Chavez (across from the auto repair place). One report stated that a car drove by, and someone leaned out the passenger window and fired 6-8 shots at the victim.

This occurred at 6:45pm - dark but not late by any means - on a normal neighborhood street.

A 38-year-old San Francisco man was killed in a Mission District shooting Thursday evening, San Francisco police said.

Michael Iyehol was shot around 6:45 p.m. on the 1100 block of Shotwell Street when someone in a car leaned out a passenger-side window and fired six to eight shots at the man, police said. The driver then sped away.

Police Blotter

12/12/06 12:47 pm 300 block of Precita

Officers Josh Kumli, Andy Cox and Dan Gibbs were working in plainclothes and monitoring drug traffic, gang activity and other issues on the 300 block of Precita. They spotted a suspect smoking a marijuana cigarette in a car. A records check revealed the suspect on probation for narcotics sales and subject to a search condition. When the suspect attempted to drive off, the officers stopped the resident of the 900 block of Douglass and determined he was driving with a suspended license. A further investigation revealed he was in possession of an illegal knife and had methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested on numerous charges and his 1983 GMC was towed. case #061317767

PRECITA VALLEY NEIGHBORS

MEETING SATURDAY DECEMBER 9, 2006 at Charlie's Deli, on Folsom at Precita.
ACTION ITEMS:

NORTHWEST BERNAL TRAFFIC CALMING PLAN UPDATE:
Adam Gubser, San Francisco Metropolitan Transit Authority planner
of the Bernal Traffic Calming Plans, will address our traffic calming plan
updates, our concerns regarding SF Bike Coalition proposed auto lane
reduction on Cesar Chavez and its effect on increasing neighborhood
traffic for Bernal and Mission Neighbors, and our interest in requesting
an EIR on the matter.

CRIME:
We will discuss the perception that there is an increase in violent
street crime, and how to respond. REMINDER: Always leave nothing in
your car. Thieves will break your windows just to get a better look at
what might be there. SFPD advise leaving your car completely empty
when you are not in it.

LOITERING IN PRECITA PARK:
We will discuss the loitering and drug use that appears to be
connected with the new Metro High Charter School (Immaculate
Conception School site). We will also discuss concerns regarding people
sleeping in the park and living in RVs on the park.

NEW PUBLIC TOILETS ON CHAVEZ?
The Department of Public Health is lobbying to put new street
toilets on Chavez and/or 26th Street. Some neighbors say that new pay
toilets will attract crime and prostitution, and that a better and humane
solution is to properly maintain the existing public toilets in Garfield,
Rolph and Potrero Del Sol Parks. If you are interested in helping to pursue
the latter option, contact stopthetoilets@yahoo.com.
